CMS follows industry initiatives, ensuring that diamonds are mined, traded, and processed in ways that respect human rights, environmental sustainability, and transparency. We buy gemstones from companies that adhere to industry standards using sustainable sourcing and fair trade practices. Both natural and lab-grown diamonds have provenance certification. Before 2000, some diamonds were sold from African countries to finance war and were called blood, or conflict diamonds. In 2003, the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme was introduced, a international industry initiative backed by the UN and operating alongside UN resolutions. Regulated by the process, rough diamonds are bought from certified conflict-free sources in 86 countries. The World Diamond Council estimates that 99.8% of the global rough diamond supply is now conflict free. https://www.kimberleyprocess.com/ The World Diamond Council is also dedicated to strengthening and protecting the integrity of the natural diamond supply chain. They collaborate with governments and relevant stakeholders to support to the Kimberley Process. Lab grown diamonds avoid human and environmental consequences, and in time, sustainable energy processes will reduce their fossil fuel requirements.

We believe coloured stones should also be responsibly sourced. Coloured gemstone supply chains can be complex, so we work closely with our partners to understand the origin of stones, how they are grown or mined, cut and traded. Unlike diamonds, most coloured gemstones are not covered by a single global certification system and often come from diverse regions worldwide, many of them mined by small-scale or artisanal operations. Precious metals used in the jewellery trade follow strict guidelines, and most metals used are recycled, reducing demand on mining. Our metal is supplied by established casting companies that source recycled metal ethically and use eco-friendly practices, for both gold and silver, with metal alloys mixed in-house.
